Michelle Uriarau & Women's Action Group: 250 Police Officers Required

Q: How many police officers should be needed for 30 women to speak safely in public?

A: None.

Michelle Uriarau and WAG returned to Melbourne on Saturday, to speak again about women's rights and protecting children.

They spoke passionately, eloquently and truthfully about gender and what it represents. They were incredible speeches, every one - informative, inspiring and moved listeners to tears - watch the video and you will see that each and every woman who speaks is a courageous heroine.

But knowing that a violent mob would show up and try and attack our co-founder and the women of Women's Action Group, the Victoria Police planned for over two hundred and fifty officers, from almost every part of the force - and they needed them.

It is shocking that any police are required in 2024 for a woman to speak about her rights and children's safety, let alone hundreds of them and the riot squad. We're once more so grateful that they were there, they were organised and efficient and prepared, and most importantly, that they protected our friend and co-founder, all the women of WAG and the public from the mob.

Thank you always to Michelle, to WAG Australia, and once more to Victoria Police.
